"We don't ordinarily review live concerts in Jean's newsletter, but we're making an exception in this case to mention the wonderful concert given by the versatile soprano Elizabeth King at J-B Piano (San Rafael) on June 28. Liz' voice is so beautiful and flexible, and her stage presence so striking, that she scored a complete success with the audience in a wide-ranging program that went from the classical (Mozart) to the early romantics (Donizetti, Bellini) to Tin Pan Alley (Gershwin), to the contemporary (Margaret Bonds/Langston Hughes). She was very sensitively accompanied by pianist Jerry Kuderna. But that was just the first half of the program! After the break, she returned with a trio led by pianist Glenn Woodruff in an equally successful set of jazz standards. Liz is now in Graz, Austria, attending an international vocal workshop, and we wish her nothing but the best. -Jean Alexis Smith

...Liz King, an extraordinary opera singer (and dancer) capable of holding the dream of "Bali Hai" in the power of her vocal" (The Sirens)
"..Other glorious highlights, Elizabeth King balancing charm, seduction and sensitivity in her sweeping rendition of the Spanish Song from Manon. As Lola Montez, King danced the Tarantella with moves light..and full of whispers"
- Pacifica Tribune
"...Soprano King gave a polished performance. Certainly..international caliber performer..the prospect of seeing (her) in this intimate setting should be considered a precious opportunity to be sure-positively not to be missed"
